The Maitra Lab at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Perlmutter Cancer Center (PCC) is recruiting for a postdoctoral fellow.
Our laboratory is engaged in translational research on pancreatic cancer with a focus on molecular alterations in precancerous lesions that either restrain or drive cancer progression. The studies conducted in our laboratory are largely geared towards identifying targets for cancer interception and cancer biomarkers in the context of early disease, for which we are using both animal and ex vivo models. Since our move to the PCC last year, we have initiated several new projects in the lab that are geared towards understanding the role of systemic factors such as aging, diet and metabolic perturbances facilitating cancer progression. We collaborate widely both within the NYU community as well as with a broad swath of extramural investigators. Some of our recent publications include Pei, Min et al, Nature 2025; Liu et al Cancer Cell, 2025; and Min et al Cancer Discovery 2026. Our lab is funded by the NIH and non-federal cancer research foundations.
We are recruiting for a creative postdoctoral fellow to join our team to pursue a project related to cancer metabolism. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in molecular or cancer biology, and a demonstrated history of peer reviewed publications. Experience in cancer metabolism research is desirable but not mandatory. Experience with writing and submitting training grants is preferable. We are looking for an individual who can design and execute experiments with both scientific rigor and highest integrity. The Maitra lab is an open and highly collaborative environment, and any incoming candidate will be expected to adhere to these tenets. There will be ample opportunities for mentorship, professional development and extramural research presentations.
